John Martin Nelson is a renowned sculptor who is widely recognized for his amazing sculptures , as they are alive. He is one of those persons Who serve nation and societythrough their works . He had also donated plenty of statues in order to serve society , and always put his best effort in bringing people of different designations, language ,areas close to each other through his sculptures.
Born in 1950, Sculptor Nelson graduated his matriculation .According to him , the world is a University and being enthusiastic in attaining the art of sculpture , he endeavored to get aquainted with this art with perfection. In line with his efforts he became a renowned sculptor. He started his journey as a Chief Artist in Alka Publicity, for 5 years and travel all over India . For last 4 decades , he has been journeying through the world of sculpture. He is second to none in the state of Chhattisgarh in carving of metals into gigantic sculptures.
Nelson is creator of most of excellent sculptures in various states which includes the ever hugest statue of Swami Vivekananda ( 37 Feet ) at Neelabh Park, Capital Raipur , Chhattisgarh ; Another gigantic statue of Gautam Buddha ( 50 Feet ) installed at 500 feet high Pragyagiri Mountain ,Dongargarh ; a sculptor of grand replica of the Pillar of Ashoka in state of Chhattisgarh , installed the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the state assembly premises.
He created 17 statues related with Buddha’s Life at Mahasamadhi Bhumi, Pavni, Maharashtra which is a international tourist place, carved a plenty statues of personalities of eminence and installed the same all over the states besides many parts of nation.
Nelson has received numerous awards and honors. He has awarded with Padmashree Award ,Nehru Award( 3 times ) for his work of excellence by Bhilai Steel Plant, Shrijan Shree Award , Hari Thakur Smriti Award , Mini Mata Kala Bimb Award , and many others.
Received appreciation from Former President Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam , Mrs.Sonia Gandhi,National Leader,Congress Party,New Delhi .
